Sustainable Landscapes Program for Horticulture Growers

This program provides incentives for horticulture growers in the BDT region and to implement water use efficiency, soil management activities and farm planning.

Objectives:

  • Improved understanding of water quality issues with regional growers based on a risk assessment approach
  • improved water quality management
  • improved water use efficiency in the fruit and vegetable industry
  • increased farm mapping and planning by land holders

Sustainable Landscape offers cash incentives for fruit & vegetable growers to implement activities that will improve the condition of the natural resources in the Burdekin Dry Tropics (BDT) region.  We value our natural assets and seek to help all managers deliver improved water quality and biodiversity for our region and communities. Thus helping to maintain and improve the economic viability of our industry.  Land mangers could receive 10% to 40% of the total cost of implementing an activity.  The value of the incentive depends on the type and priority of the activity.  The priority will be based on the information collected during a site assessment of the property with the land manager.
